Physiotherapy & Acupuncture

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the diagnosis and treatment of injury, overuse problems, by physical means. Physiotherapy can help you return to a pain free, fully functional lifestyle that you had prior to your symptoms starting. Physiotherapists are skilled at giving in depth advice on the management of these problems. This may include advice on whether to rest, exercise or to apply ice. As well as ‘hands on’ techniques, we are trained in other treatments such as manipulation, electrotherapy and acupuncture.

What conditions can be helped?

 - Back pain and sciatica

 - Generalised joint problems such as arthritis

 - Neck pain including whiplash

 - Sports injuries

 - Headaches and migraine

 - Joint sprains and strains

 - Muscle, tendon and ligament injury or inflammation

 - Injury resulting from occupation, gardening and DIY

 - Following fractures or orthopaedic surgery including joint replacement

Why Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the many skills used within physiotherapy as part of an integrated approach to the management of pain, inflammation and as a means of enhancing the body's own healing chemicals in order to aid recovery and enhance rehabilitation.

Acupuncture is used by Physiotherapists, against a background of sound research and evidence, as a means of enhancing pain modulation via the stimulation of the brain and spinal cord to produce NATURAL pain relieving chemicals, such as endorphins; melatonin to promote sleep, serotonin to promote well being, to name but a few. These assist the body's healing process and offer pain relief as a precursor for other manual or exercise therapy (AACP).

Conditions that can be treated by Acupuncture within Physiotherapy include:

- Sports Injuries

- Back Pain

- Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy

- Whiplash

- Rheumatoid

- Arthritis Headaches

Rehabilitation

Physiotherapists have the skills to give advice and education for a variety of muscular and joint problems. We can prescribe specific exercises to help reduce pain, improve strength and endurance, returningyou to full function and sporting ability. We are based within a gym (Havant) and at a corporate site (Basingstoke).
